Former Cincinnati Vice Mayor Minette Cooper died Aug. 9. She was 73.
Cooper was elected to Cincinnati City Council in 1995, serving until 2003. She also served on the Board of Health.
Cincinnati Mayor John Cranley tweeted his condolences Monday night:
“I am saddened to hear the news of the passing of former Cincinnati Vice Mayor Minette Cooper,” Hamilton County Commissioner Alicia Reece release said in a statement. “We served on city council together. She was a champion for the children and was the second African American woman to be elected to City Council and the first African American woman to be re-elected and an appointed chair of the Finance Committee.”
“Ms. Cooper served eight years on city council, all while battling multiple sclerosis. Please keep her children and family in your thoughts and prayers,” Reece concluded.
