Libyan rebels today successfully breeched Moammar Gadhafi’s compound in Tripoli, although it was not immediately clear whether or not Gadhafi was in the complex. Mahmoud Shammam, a Doha-base spokesman for the rebels’ interim council, said, “We don’t know who is inside Bab al-Aziziya. We believe that there is someone there and that he is leading a fierce battle. It is a symbol. This is the final castle of Gadhafi.”—-
All charges have been dropped against former IMF Chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn. Strauss-Kahn today said in a statement that the last two-and-a-half months have been, “a nightmare for me and my family” and that he looks forward to “returning to our home and resuming something of a normal life.”

A biblical theme park that features a full-size replica of Noah’s Ark has been given a 75 percent property tax discount in Williamstown, Ky. Americans United for the Separation of Church and State has threatened to sue over the tax discount. “The state of Kentucky should not be promoting the spread of fundamentalist Christianity or any other religious viewpoint,” Americans United Executive Director Rev. Barry W. Lynn told the Herald-Leader. In addition to the big boat complete with dinosaurs, the 800-acre park will feature a Tower of Babel and a petting zoo.
We are told the replica will look nothing like this.
A 12-year-old Georgia girl named Jessica Maple, who in July attended Fulton County’s Junior District Attorneys Camp, has solved a burglary by finding clues investigators missed. Police in Fitzgerald, Ga., told her family that they believed someone used a key to get into her deceased great-grandmother’s home and steal all of her furniture. “We went to the area by the garage and there was broken glass, a shopping cart and fingerprints all over the garage,” said Jessica. “I don’t think the detective knew what he was talking about.”
“(My mom and I) went around town, and we went to a pawnshop and there was all the furniture,” Jessica said. “I thought, I don’t think these criminals were thinking to put all the stuff in the same place. I called the police… and they were, ‘Oh, my gosh, I can’t believe you found it.’ And, I said, ‘I did your job again.’ ”
William Gheen of Americans for Legal Immigration PAC said yesterday that he’s ready to stop President Obama’s war on white America by any means necessary. “We’re no longer referring to him as President Barack Obama, our national organization has made the decision and made the announcement we now refer to him as Dictator Barack Obama. That’s what he is. And basically at this point, if you’re looking for a peaceful, political recourse there really isn’t one that we can think of, and I’m really not sure what to tell people out there than I guess they need to make decisions soon to just accept whatever comes next or some type of extra-political activities that I can’t really talk about because they’re all illegal and violent.”
Rick Perry yesterday compared the civil rights movement to the GOP’s fight for lower corporate taxes and deregulation. “Listen, America’s gone a long way from the standpoint of civil rights and thank God we have. I mean we’ve gone from a country that made great strides in issues of civil rights. I think we all can be proud of that. And as we go forward, America needs to be about freedom. It needs to be about freedom from overtaxation, freedom from over-litigation, freedom from over-regulation. And Americans regardless of what their cultural or ethnic background is they need to know that they can come to America and you got a chance to have any dream come true because the economic climate is gonna be improved.”
These two are both on the bus to equality.
