Two gifted acts in the forefront of creating inventive contemporary genre-defying instrumental music — German keyboardist Nils Frahm and Brooklyn acoustic trio Dawn of Midi — share the bill for a show at Contemporary Arts Center on Monday. Frahm is a phenomenal keyboardist, capable of building symphonic layers of sound by mixing piano with synthesized sounds. His compositions can be ambient and deeply. quietly introspective or drivingly, grandly rhythmic. Dawn of Midi turns Acoustic Jazz and Classical Music into something new, especially when pianist Amino Belyamani plays his prepared piano like John Cage leading forth at a late-night Jazz session.
Concert is at 7:30 p.m. $20; $15 CAC members. 44 E. Sixth St., Downtown, showclix.com/event/cacnilsdom.
