The Skulx

The Skulx

Although fans were surely disappointed that 2015 was the first full year in a decade without successful Cincinnati rockers Foxy Shazam, the band’s “indefinite hiatus” that was announced in 2014 has resulted in a wealth of great new Foxy-related music. Singer Eric Nally appeared on Macklemore’s “Downtown” single and is set to launch his solo career in the new year; guitarist Loren Turner formed Trolleydodgers, which is gearing up for its second single release; and trumpeter/singer Alex Nauth teamed up with some members of Columbus, Ohio’s Cadaver Dogs to form The Skulx. Nauth’s new band has been earning attention by taking its explosive live show on the road (earning a New Artist of the Year nod from the Cincinnati Entertainment Awards), and this Thursday the band is celebrating the release of its self-titled debut album on Mind Over Matter Records with a free New Year’s Eve blowout in Cincy with local pals Automagik. In life and death, it appears, Foxy Shazam is the gift that keeps on giving.
