The Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame is taking nominations for its 2021 class of inductees.
Created in 1992, the organization recognizes citizens who had served in the U.S. military “with honor and distinction,” the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame Foundation website states.
Nominees must be current or past Ohio residents, must have received honorable discharges from a branch of the armed services and must be “of good moral character.” The Ohio Department of Veterans Services includes the National Guard and reserves in its qualifications. The Hall of Fame accepts nominations for candidates who are either living or deceased.
The Hall of Fame emphasizes candidates’ contributions to their communities during post-military life, highlighting volunteerism, advocacy, professional accomplishments, public service and philanthropy, according to the ODVS website.
Up to 20 veterans are selected for the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame each year and are approved by the governor. Nominations are due by June 15.
