Madcap Puppets and the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra team up for the second year to bring the story of Amahl and the Night Visitors, a 50-minute chamber opera about the three kings and their visit with Amahl, a disabled shepherd boy, as they search for the Christ child.
The opera, by Gian Carlo Menotti, was written for television in 1951 and is a heart-warming tale that includes singers from Xavier University’s Edgecliff Vocal Ensemble and dancers from Pones, Inc. Last year’s four performances were nearly sold-out, so this year there will be six opportunities to see the show.
Through Dec. 23. $25 adults; $10 children. Gallagher Student Center Theatre, Xavier University, 3800 Victory Parkway, Evanston, 513-723-1182, ccocincinnati.org.
