Flesh Descending

Flesh Descending

Activity on Cincinnati stages slows down considerably during the summer, but the creative thinkers at Know Theatre plan to keep you entertained with something new and different: a summer-long series of episodic plays by local playwrights called Serials! They’ve mapped out an addictive attraction, inspired by “must-see TV” but live onstage. A half-dozen zany pilots will be presented on Monday, with subsequent one-night-only episodes at two-week intervals. The writers — including Trey Tatum and Jon Kovach, who just had blockbuster shows during the Cincinnati Fringe — will keep the stories going based on audience feedback. So far we have meat falling from the sky, an NSA spook monitoring a contentious couple, a kid who won’t go to a funeral, a philosophical fetus, a suicidal pair competing over techniques and more … episodes continue every other week until the middle of September, complete with cliffhangers. Recaps will catch you up.

8 p.m. Monday, July 21; season finales Sept. 8. $15. Know Theatre, 1120 Jackson St., Over-the-Rhine, 513-300-5669, knowtheatre.com.
