This spring, Northern Kentucky will get its first-ever Publix store as the supermarket chain announces the grand opening of its location in Walton.

The store, located in the Triple Crown Shopping Center on Richwood Road, will hold a grand opening on Wednesday, March 26 at 7 a.m.

“We are excited to open our first location in Northern Kentucky,” said Jared Glover, Publix media relations manager. “We look forward to delivering Publix’s legendary service and being active members in this great community.”

The store will be a little under 56,000 square feet and feature the supermarket, as well as an adjacent Publix Liquors, which will sell beer, wine and spirits. The opening of the liquor store will be announced at a later date, according to a press release.

Publix is opening four other stores in Northern Kentucky in the near future:

  • Cold Spring at AA Highway and Alexandria Pike
  • Independence at Harris Pike and Madison Pike
  • Florence at US-42 and Farmview Drive
  • Hebron at The Shoppes of Hebron Pointe at Williams Road and Worldwide Boulevard

Publix is best known for its fresh produce, buy-one-get-one deals and its popular “Pub Sub” sandwiches. It’s also the largest employee-owned company in the United States, according to its website.
