Will kids be able to drag their families out to see SpongeBob SquarePants make the mid-movie transition from cartoon favorite to a real-life three-dimensional character along with his buddies? What, pray tell, could force SpongeBob to attempt such a feat? When someone steals the secret Krabbie Patty recipe, of course. In our world, the SquarePants crew must gain special powers in order to be ready to battle with a pirate (Antonio Banderas) exploiting the recipe for market domination. Director Paul Tibbitt (writer and producer with the television series) also enlists the aid of Frankie Muniz, Slash and Clancy Brown to squeeze as much life as possible out of this Sponge Out of Water.
