Getting your brakes fixed involves more than the repair itself. There’s getting the car to the shop, arranging a ride and figuring out when you can pick it up. If you share a vehicle or need it for work, a routine repair can turn into a scheduling problem.

That’s what Daniel Gibson wanted to change when he started The Auto Llama six years ago. His idea was straightforward: bring common brake repairs to the customer.

Today, the company has six employees and serves Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and Dayton. We asked Gibson why he chose mobile service and what customers think when they learn the technician comes to them.

What made you think there was a better way to handle brake repair?

Even for minor repairs, customers were having to take their vehicle to a shop, leave it there and find a ride to and from the appointment. I thought there had to be a better way to do that.

With everything we can do today, it made sense to bring the service to the customer. Brake repair was something I felt we could make more convenient.

What was it like when you first started offering the service?

It was just me driving around in a car with tools in my trunk. Early on, I started to realize how well-liked the service was and how much of a need it could fill.

That response is what led us to expand. I hired one person, and we kept growing from there. Six years later, we have six employees and work across three markets.

What do people say when they find out they don’t have to bring their car to a shop?

Some are shocked. Even now, people are surprised to learn we’re a mobile service.

A lot of them are excited because they don’t have to spend hours of their day going to a shop. They don’t have to figure out the drop-off and the rides. That’s a big part of why people like it.

Is everyone comfortable with the idea right away?

Some people are a little leery because it’s a new type of service to them. I understand that. It’s different from the way they’re used to getting their car repaired.

We’ve been doing this for six years now, and we have hundreds of five-star reviews across the internet. People can look at those experiences when they’re deciding whether to try us.

What do you want customers to expect from your team?

We put the customer first. We do the right thing, and we don’t recommend parts or repairs the customer doesn’t need.

Our technicians carry that same philosophy. We take the work seriously and do the repairs properly and safely. That’s how we run the business.

For drivers considering mobile service, The Auto Llama’s brake repair services include brake pad replacement, rotor and caliper replacement, along with other common brake work. Appointments can take place at homes or approved workplace locations where there is a suitable area for the technician to work.

Getting started means sharing the vehicle’s year, make and model, its location, and a description of the problem. The team confirms service availability and explains the estimate before approved repairs begin. Customers don’t need to know which part is causing a noise or vibration before reaching out.

The company also offers selected mechanical repairs, auto glass service and fleet repair and maintenance. To learn more or request an estimate, visit The Auto Llama or call or text 859-380-6846.
