Comedian Maronzio Vance hails from North
Carolina, but he refuses to admit he’s from the South; after all, his
home state starts with “North.” His storytelling style covers everything
from shopping to sex. “I went into a Walmart last week and they had a
Target inside it,” he tells an audience. “I’m like ‘damn, this is a big
Walmart.’ And then the store just starts turning red on me. ‘Is this
Target? I can’t afford Target.’ Walmart’s rolling back prices.
That
smiley face understands my financial situation.” On the racier side, he
tells the tale of a woman who wanted him to rough it up in bed and choke
her. She told him her safe word was “refrigerator.” Vance was taken
aback. “You’re saying in the midst of choking you, when you’re ready for
me to stop you’re going to say ‘refrigerator?’ You’re not going to get
that out. Whatever happened to just saying ‘stop?’ I’ll be enjoying it
and you’ll be dead.” In addition to doing stand-up, Vance also acts and
hosts his own podcast called Just Killing Time with Maronzio Vance during
which he has a conversation with another comic and talks about
whatever’s on his mind when he turns on the mic. $15-$17. Through
