Museum Gallery/Gallery Museum is filling out the artistic vibe at the corner of 13th and Sycamore streets in Over-the-Rhine, just across from the arts venue CS13. Its second exhibition, curated by Reid Radcliffe and Alan Wight, is entitled Huxy: Modes of Masculinity. An enormous crowd of artists has been gathered to think about the semiotics of masculinity, to discern the striations of meaning in the term and to assess what masculinity does or doesn’t have to do with gender or social programming. If you weren’t at the opening, you missed the crew of old gentlemen playing poker, but a set of poker chips designed in honor of them remains in the space. Among the other insightful offerings are Matthew Dayler’s “Untitled Trophy 1 and 2,” a pair of photographs showing clippings of beard hair. While the whole story of these works is not explicitly told in the gallery, the works exude a sexual, subversive personality. Andy Marko’s self-portrait with Victoria’s Secret shopping bags and Jeff Smith’s pale renderings of pickup trucks respectively address the exhibition’s central issues with humor and haunting elegance. 6-10 p.m. Fridays through Feb. 19.
