Comedian James Johann lives by his motto, “Keeping it rural.” “I’ve always worked in the Midwest and the middle of the country,” the Paola, Kansas native says. “I’ve never had the urge to go to L.A. or New York and get in line for a TV show. I fit in better here. I’ve gone to the coasts, I’ve done shows out there (but) mainly I like it here in Ohio, Illinois, places like that.” With his twangy delivery, he tells jokes based on his life experiences. “She was a nymphomaniac,” he says about a former girlfriend. “I didn’t get much sleep with her around. Up late every night … waiting for her to get home.”
