See everything from chrysanthemums and bonsais to a Japanese tea house at the Krohn Conservatory’s fall 2013 show, Mitate: A Japanese Garden.
Featuring plants and landscapes inspired by Japanese gardens and culture, mitate in Japanese means “to see with new eyes,” and the show embraces the principle of using something old in a new way to engage viewers with the landscape. Not only are beautiful flowers and plant life the centerpiece of Japanese gardening, but negative spaces such as rocks and dirt patches are just as important.
