London's Damnably Records Streaming 2016 Wussy Gig at the Windmill Brixton in Memory of John Erhardt

Wussy pedal steel guitarist John Erhardt passed away last week, the band announced on their Facebook page.

Wussy posted a heartfelt remembrance of their longtime friend, who had also been in the Ass Ponys with vocalist Chuck Cleaver, saying, “John gave us a beauty that we’ll never see again. A combination of love, friendship, stability and that amazing swirling sound. Truly a wonder. A backdrop to everything that we are, in the band and in life.” You can read the post in full here.

Wussy’s UK label, the London-based Damnably, is hosting a special stream of the band’s 2016 appearance at the Windmill Brixton on their YouTube page to pay tribute to Erhardt and also raise funds for the John Erhardt Memorial Fund. The show is free to watch, but donations are encouraged.

According to the GoFundMe description, the John Erhardt Memorial Fund “is being established to assist organizations whose focus is advocating for and helping individuals and their families who contend with the disease of mental illness.” As of this posting, it has raised more than $21,000 of its $25,000 goal.

The Damnably YouTube stream will also act as a fundraiser for the independent venue, The Windmill Brixton.

The watch party happens today at 1pm PDT / 4pm EDT / 9pm BST, according to Wussy.
