A polarizing cultural commentator has announced an added stop in Cincinnati to his pre-book tour lecture series.

Jordan Peterson, an author and public figure with a doctorate in clinical psychology, has been touring the nation with a lecture that explores themes from his upcoming book, “We Who Wrestle with God: Perceptions of the Divine.”

Now, Cincinnati’s Andrew J. Brady Music Center is set to welcome the controversial figure for an evening of thought-provoking insights—and perhaps a few eye rolls, depending on your stance.

Known for his outspoken cultural and political views, he was once called “one of the most influential—and polarizing—public intellectuals in the English-speaking world,” by The New Yorker in 2018.

Peterson is often considered “rightwing,” a term he disagrees with. He politically identifies as a classic British liberal, a term that has made a comeback in libertarian and conservative spheres for its values on individualism, liberty and free economy with minimal government interference.

Peterson’s views often considered controversial include blaming modern higher education and liberal arts programs for political correctness and advocating for their defunding, claiming there isn’t enough evidence for the gender pay gap, asserting that men are experiencing a masculinity crisis, denying climate change and, of course, his interpretations of the Bible.

Conservatives and young men in their late teens, twenties and early thirties who feel frustrated with their lives and seek a relatable figure, have increasingly turned to Peterson since his rise in mainstream media in the 2010s.

His upcoming book, set to release on Nov. 19, 2024, analyzes key Biblical stories that have shaped Western culture and psychology. Peterson explores their deeper meanings and their impact on people’s understanding of self and society, encouraging readers to reflect on the moral and spiritual lessons these narratives offer.

The lecture will provide an in-depth, in-person exploration of some of the ideas he discusses in the book.

Peterson will be stopping in Cincinnati on Dec. 2, 2024 at the Andrew J. Brady Music Center. Tickets for the lecture go on sale on Oct. 25 and can be purchased through both Ticketmaster and the Andrew J. Brady Music Center.
