The bird is back in Cincinnati’s Pendleton neighborhood. Last fall, fast-casual eatery CHX (located next door to 3 Points Urban Brewery) closed to the public, converting into a special events kitchen.

And over the course of the pandemic, both the brewery and fried chicken spot have changed hands. The former 3 Points space has been taken over by Braxton Brewing Company — the Covington-based brewery’s first Cincinnati location — and the CHX location is now a chicken-wing-centric joint called Pendalo Wingery, located within the brewery.

According to Mike Shieman of Pendalo Wingery, the mission is to provide guests with the “quintessential food and drink pairing: wings and craft beer.”

The Buffalo wing spot opened on Friday, Dec. 18 and features wings (for vegetarians and meat-eaters) with 11 sauce options, snacks, salads, sides and a special kids menu.

Folks can choose from either traditional (breaded or naked), boneless wings or cauliflower wings in either orders of six, 10 or 15, or opt for crispy or grilled chicken tenders in three, six or nine-count orders.

Sauces range from sweet to spicy with options including Pineapple BBQ, Alabama Pickle, Ginger Teriyaki, Korean Fire or Nah Bruh XXX, available tossed with wings or on the side.

These aren’t your average wings, though. Pendalo Wingery uses a pickle-brine in their recipe, which “gives (their) buttermilk marinade a beautiful, salty, savory, juiciness that guests just won’t get anywhere else,” Shieman says. Then they hand-bread the chicken using their own special recipe.

Additionally, the eatery has a plethora of bar bites like the pretzel dipper duo, chicken or cheese quesadilla and loaded crinkle fries.

Looking for something greener? Pendalo Wings offers two different salads: the OG House Salad or the Bacon Bleu — both available with fried or grilled chicken tenders for $3 more.

“Our menu is handcrafted because it simply tastes better that way. Today, a lot of restaurants tend to make food that’s pre-made, but at Pendalo, we’re not programmed that way,” says Shieman.

“We enjoy cooking and we enjoy cooking food our way, so when guests taste it, they’re tasting the joy and passion that goes into it. We take pride in cooking fresh food, not having our freezer stocked with food that’s ready to be preheated.”

Guests at the brewery can view the menus via QR codes on the tables, and order their food and drinks at the same time. Shieman says they’re also working on an online ordering platform so guests can order and have their food delivered without leaving their seat.

Additionally, you can call the brewery and order your food to-go, and a delivery service is in the works.

Aside from Mondays and Tuesdays when they will be closed, the eatery will be open the same hours as Braxton.

Pendalo Wings is located within Braxton Brewing Co. Cincinnati, at 331 E. 13th St., Pendleton.
