March is Women’s History Month, and Great Parks, Hamilton County’s parks system, is celebrating with the launch of a new programming series aimed at empowering women in the outdoors.
The year-long series, Women in the Outdoors, starts at the end of the month with a basic compound bow archery course on Saturday, March 29. The parks system says the programming offers a chance to make new friends in a welcoming space while also learning outdoor skills.
The programs are inclusive and also meant to build confidence in pursuing new activities, which can open the door to new adventures. Sessions are led by a female instructor and will take place in various locations, including the archery range, woods and on the water.
Classes are for those 16 and older. The cost of each session ranges from $24-$67 and includes all the necessary equipment. You can register for sessions online at greatparks.org. Just find the date of the program on the calendar and you’ll be able to sign up and pay.
Classes include:
- March 29: Archery Basics: Compound Bow at Winton Woods
- April 26: Archery Basics: Recurve Bow at Winton Woods
- May 10: Land Navigation at Winton Woods
