COVID-19 booster shots are now mobile! Eligible Ohioans can receive a booster at certain locations throughout the city via the 513Relief Bus.

According to a release from the Hamilton County Public Health Department, the bus is not only offering boosters but also first doses of Pfizer and Modera vaccines. Those getting their first vaccine dose will receive a gift card.

The booster shot is free and available to qualifying patients at least six months past their second dose of the Pfizer vaccine.

Boosters will not be given to anyone who did not receive Pfizer because Pfizer is the only COVID vaccine approved by the FDA and the only vaccine brand for which the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has released guidance.

The 513Relief Bus will be at:

  • New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 26 W. North Bend Road, Carthage — Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1:30-4 p.m.
  • St. Peter & St. Paul United Church, 3001 Queen City Ave., Westwood — Friday, Oct. 1, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
  • New Prospect Baptist Church, 1580 Summit Road, Roselawn — Saturday, Oct. 2, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

A form of identification is required. A parent or guardian must accompany minors. Find the full list of locations administering boosters in Hamilton County here.

According CDC recommendations, the following people are eligible — and either should or may — receive a Pfizer booster shot:

  • people 65 years and older and residents in long-term care settings should receive a booster shot of Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months after their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series,
  • people aged 50–64 years with underlying medical conditions should receive a booster shot of Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months after their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series,
  • people aged 18–49 years with underlying medical conditions may receive a booster shot of Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months after their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series, based on their individual benefits and risks, and
  • people aged 18-64 years who are at increased risk for COVID-19 exposure and transmission because of occupational or institutional setting may receive a booster shot of Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months after their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series, based on their individual benefits and risks.

Last week, Cincinnati area Walgreens and CVS pharmacies both announced they would be offering the booster to qualifying individuals.
