Despite rampant flooding in the area, Pleasant Ridge is keeping on with its annual neighborhood celebration on Aug. 1 with the 55th annual “Ridge Day.”
Every year, neighborhood leaders welcome citizens and visitors for an evening of live entertainment, local food and beer, family activities, artists, makers and community organizations in the heart of Pleasant Ridge.
Proceeds from the event help support community initiatives throughout the year. Most recently, those funds helped provide resources for Pleasant Ridge residents cleaning up after the severe flooding that damaged homes, vehicles and property earlier this month.
“Ridge Day has always been about more than one day,” event organizers said in a release. “It’s about investing in our neighborhood and creating opportunities for neighbors to connect, celebrate and support one another. The recent flooding reminded all of us how important those connections are.”
Food and drink options will be provided by Rhinegeist, Nine Giant Brewing, HighGrain Brewery, Goodfellas, Mahope and Twisted Greek. Live performers include Anaya Belly Dance, the magician Charlie Cadabra, the Riley School of Irish Music, and the band Just Add Beer. Local artists and family-friendly activities will be scattered throughout the festival.
The event begins at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 1, in the neighborhood’s business district at 6142 Montgomery Road. For more information, visit the event’s official website.
