A new vintage shop in Walnut Hills will host its grand opening next month and debut an expansion that will extend the shop’s collection.

Tasty Bird Vintage, located at 2533 Gilbert Ave., brings more than 30 vintage and antique vendors together under one roof, offering a highly curated and ever-changing selection of vintage furniture, housewares and clothing from the ‘30s through the ‘90s. The name comes from a former fried chicken shack, Tasty Bird Poultry, that opened on Gilbert in 1953 and fed the community for decades. Co-founders Leah Wilson and Jason Brown say they wanted to bring the name back to celebrate the flavor, history and community spirit that continue to define the neighborhood.

The shop held a soft opening on Sept. 20 and will host its grand opening on Saturday, Nov. 15, where it will unveil Underwing, a newly opened lower level with even more vintage goods. Wilson and Brown say the expansion builds on Tasty Bird’s mission to create a modern, design-centered vintage marketplace that blends history and sustainability.

“Since our soft launch in September, the response has been incredible,” Wilson said in a press release. “The Underwing adds an entirely new dimension to the experience — it doubles our space and deepens our range, especially in vintage fashion, while keeping that same tight, curated feel people love about Tasty Bird.”

Wilson and Brown add that each vendor is carefully chosen to create an eclectic but cohesive shopping experience.

“We love the art of the hunt,” Brown said. “Tasty Bird isn’t about having a ton of stuff — it’s about having the right stuff. Every piece has to earn its spot. The Underwing gives us even more room to do that, and we’re excited to keep adding to all the great shops and restaurants that make Walnut Hills such a fun place to be.”

The grand opening will also feature music, refreshments and giveaways, as well as extended hours for late-night browsing. The store opens at 11 a.m. and the event festivities will take place from 5-9 p.m.
