In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, all of Cincinnati’s pro team stadiums will light up purple this weekend.

Great American Ball Park, Paul Brown Stadium and TQL Stadium will be lit in partnership with the teams and the Hamilton County Commissioners. In a press release, the commissioners says they want to “support domestic violence survivors and shed light on the impacts that domestic violence has on generations of people regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, religion or nationality.”

The awareness campaign’s official color is purple and the commissioners are encouraging the public to wear purple or a purple ribbon during the month of October in support of survivors and to “honor those who died at the hands of their abusers.”

The stadiums will light up purple 8-11 p.m. nightly from Oct. 8 to Oct. 10, with messaging included on the scoreboard. The Duke Energy Convention Center and First Financial Center will have the Cincinnati Icon sign lit in purple as well.

On Saturday, Oct. 9, TQL Stadium will be lighting its exterior fins in “rainbow colors and rainbow-colored smoke will be lit in The Bailey” during the FC Cincinnati match for a special, separate Pride celebration.

Commissioners say that in September they allocated  $50,000 to Women Helping Women via its Community Development Block Grant funds. Women Helping Women is a Greater Cincinnati nonprofit committed to “preventing gender-based violence and empower all survivors.”
