African-American historian and author Erica Armstrong Dunbar tells the stories of the resilience, pain and triumph of the African-American community.
The Mercantile Library will be spotlighting her book Never Caught: The Washingtons’ Relentless Pursuit of Their Runaway Slave, Ona Judge, which tells the story of Judge, a runaway slave owned by President George Washington.
The nonfiction work was a National Book Award finalist. Dunbar will also be speaking on her writing, tackling concepts like slavery and racial injustice for the library’s annual 1835 Lecture.
