A new festive winter tradition is coming to the Cincinnati Museum Center (CMC) this month.

CMC will celebrate the winter solstice — the shortest day of the year — on Saturday, Dec. 20 with Festive Frolic, featuring puppet shows, storytimes, crafts and more. The event will also offer up a taste of some holiday dishes, like sugar plums, latkes and hot cups of wassail, from the museum’s chefs and food scientists. 

Attendees can also listen to an old-fashioned radio reading of Clement-Clarke Moore’s The Night Before Christmas, and there will be a dance party in the Children’s Museum. Or, make your own stained-glass mistletoe or print your own bookmark at the craft demonstrations. Mad scientists will also be on hand to conduct fun and chilly experiments with dry ice and liquid nitrogen.

Festive Frolic will run 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. throughout the museum. See the full schedule:
