The Flying Pig Marathon is a big event in Cincinnati, and not just because of the 20,000-plus runners who descend upon the city to participate in this Boston Marathon-qualifier.

The Flying Pig has expanded from a race to a full weekend of events, including a health expo, a family-friendly festival, fun runs, a 10K, a 5K and a half marathon. And that Flying Pig Paycor Half Marathon has recently taken home some honors of its own.

According to website, the city's half marathon is America's favorite. RaceRaves hosted a March Madness-style tournament to determine the nation's best half-marathon and the Queen City took top honors. This year, 64 half marathons "in four geographic regions were seeded based on the number of past finishers and their RaceRaves ratings and reviews," per the website.

Runners logged on to vote for their picks in six rounds hosted over three weeks. The races that received the most votes went onto the next round.

In the Final Four, the Flying Pig Paycor Half Marathon beat out the Great Smoky Mountains Half Marathon and the Glacier Half Marathon, taking 65% and 54% of the vote, respectively.

“We are thrilled to be voted America’s favorite Half Marathon,” Iris Simpson Bush, Pig Works president and CEO, told RaceRaves. “There are so many iconic half marathons, and all deserve the votes they received. To be voted the favorite over all of them is an honor we celebrate with all our participants.”

RaceRaves also lists the Flying Pig full marathon as the best in Ohio.

The 24th Flying Pig Marathon weekend will take place April 29-May 1, with the full and half marathon taking place on May 1. Find a full list of events or register for the race at
