Mistakes happen to the best of us, especially during a pandemic, and sports network ESPN is no exception to the rule. 

During what appeared to be a FaceTime interview with Reds pitcher Trevor Bauer over the weekend, the network broadcast the player’s phone number for the whole world to see. Bauer was a pretty great sport about the mishap, taking to his Twitter shortly after to announce a giveaway in light of the incident. 

Apparently since posting, many have taken Bauer up on his offer, flooding his voicemail inbox — so much so, in fact, that he had to explain the rules in a later Tweet.

“Didn’t account for my voicemail filling up so quickly…for those who can’t get in, the rules for the giveaway are as follows. They’re simple: Follow me on twitter and Instagram (@baueroutage) and subscribe on YouTube (Trevor Bauer). That’s it. I’ll pick one lucky winner,” the tweet reads. 

You have until 2:27 a.m. on May 12 to be eligible for his generous giveaway, according to the timestamp on his original post. 

On Sunday, Bauer told his followers on Twitter that he would be answering a few FaceTime calls, later announcing “alright y’all broke my FaceTime,” in a tweet. 

It also appears that he has also been a victim to a struggle many of us are familiar with — the never-ending group text — but on an entirely different scale. RIP Trevor Bauer’s phone. ESPN, hope y’all are giving that man a new line!
