If you know, you know. And if you don’t, you can learn a whole lot from those in the know at TEDxUCincinnati’s annual TED Talk event.
The ninth-annual If You Know, You Know will bring in eight speakers from the Cincinnati area and across the country to share their insider secrets, hardships, failures and behind-the-scenes endeavors.
“By talking about these topics, our audience will have a new perspective on exclusivity, identity, and vulnerability,” reads a description of the event.
Speakers include published researchers, college deans, authors and experts in various academic and scientific fields, as well as students:
Dr. Marianne Lewis: Dean of the University of Cincinnati’s Carl H. Lindner College of Business and a professor of management. She recently published her new book Both/And Thinking with Wendy Smith.
Lina Itenberg: A fourth-year medical sciences major and self-described life-long learner.
Tatiana Tsoir, CPA, MBA: An award-winning accountant, bestselling author, speaker and business expert.
Dr. Matt Chalmers: A health and wellness expert, author and speaker specializing in long-term wellness, nutrition, women’s health, weight loss, athlete wellness and holistic healing.
Olivia Riggs: A graduating senior at the University of Cincinnati majoring in pre-law criminal justice with a minor in Africana Studies. She is also the president of the College of Education, Criminal Justice and Human Services; participates in the B.A.C (Black Arts Collaborative) poetry and dance team and serves as the vice president of both the Lambda Society and the United Black Student Association.
Kyle Key: Holds a master’s degree in social work and a bachelor’s degree in secondary education and has worked in higher education for nearly a decade.
Dr. Shanna Stryker: A double-boarded physician in family medicine and psychiatry. She works as a clinician and advocate for Cincinnati’s immigrant, refugee and LGBT communities.
Alexandria Lubans-Otto: Managing attorney for the Immigrant and Refugee Law Center (IRLC) in Cincinnati. She is also adjunct faculty at the UC College of Law where she teaches immigration law and policy and asylum and refugee law.
UC’s a cappella team the Vocaholics will also do a guest performance.
The TED Talk will be held in Probasco Auditorium on Saturday, Feb. 25 from 12:30-4:30 p.m. Tickets are $12; you can buy those here.
