The Neighborhood: Norwood The vibe: Much more blue-collar and working-class than its neighbor, Hyde Park, Norwood has the small-town feel many crave, but with big-city amenities still in the neighborhood, plus it’s not a far drive to downtown Cincinnati. Rookwood Pavilion and Commons offer a variety of shopping, from upscale to bargains, whether you need clothes, shoes, a spa day, books or just groceries from Whole Foods. Ideal for: Young working-class folks. Families. First-time homebuyers. Those who can’t afford Hyde Park but still want to be nearby. Not ideal for: Drivers not willing to deal with the potholes. City-dwellers. People who don’t like change. Extra perk: The brand new Factory 52 offers a town-square-like feel where you can hang out, grab a bite to eat and play pickleball. Factory 52, a mixed-use development in Norwood on the site of the former United States Playing Card Company factory, is celebrating its first St. Patrick’s Day with a fun beer run and a few shenanigans.

The inaugural Sham-ROCK and Run at Factory 52 will be a mile-long race (yes, beer is involved, say organizers), along with a costume contest and a post-race party with music and dancing. The run is happening Saturday, March 16, with registration starting on-site at 10 a.m. and the race and music from The Jordan Wilson Coalition kicking off at 11:30 a.m.

During the event, participants can also don their most festive green or creative leprechaun costumes to compete for the best-dressed title. After the race, live music and dancers will keep the party going.

Interested runners can sign up for the race here. The registration fee is $30 until March 8. After that, the price will go up. Registration includes a commemorative race t-shirt, beers and a slice of pizza from Trophy Pizza, the newest eatery at Factory 52’s food hall, The Gatherall.
