Inside Cleveland's 'A Christmas Story' House, a Holiday Hotel and Museum

Classic holiday film A Christmas Story took place in Hohman, Indiana, but many scenes and exteriors were filmed in Cleveland’s Tremont neighborhood, including the childhood home of Ralphie Parker and his family. But up until about 13 years ago, you probably wouldn’t recognize the home as the one from the movie.

Brian Jones purchased the home off of Ebay in 2004 for $150,000 and spent an additional $240,000 in renovations in order to restore it to its original iconic look before opening the house to the public for tours. Jones also purchased the home across from the A Christmas Story house and transformed it into a museum full of props from the film.

But you can do more than just tour the legendary home, true fans of the film (and anyone looking for place to stay overnight) can rent out the home and the neighboring Bumpus House, “home to Ralphies hillbilly neighbors, the Bumpuses, and their 785 smelly hound dogs,” the A Christmas Story House & Museum site explains.

A Christmas Story house rents out for $845 a night, and the Bumpus house, which is split into two separate units, ranges in price from $245-$295.

A Christmas Story House & Museum is located at 3159 W. 11th St. in Cleveland and is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week, all year long, with extended hours during the holidays.
