Greater Cincinnati’s beloved Kings Island announced some much-anticipated news this morning (June 9). The amusement park has set their opening dates for the summer season: season pass holders get advance entry July 2-11 and the park will open daily on July 12, with some new health and safety precautions in place.

“We are ready to welcome our guests back to Kings Island for some long-overdue fun,” said Mike Koontz, Kings Island’s general manager, in a press release. “The safety of our guests and associates has always been and will always be our top priority. The park’s new health and safety protocols align with CDC recommendations, and have been shaped by information from company and industry health and safety experts, along with our state and local government officials.”

According to the press release, the new guidelines in place at the amusement park are as follows:

  • Reservations are required prior to visit in order to ensure capacity limits
  • Visitors must complete a health screening 24 hours prior to visit
  • Guests and employees will have temperatures taken upon entering
  • Guests and employees must wear masks
  • Social distancing markers will be outlined throughout the park and ride lines
  • Implementing ways to offer limited guests/associate contact
  • New cleaning and sanitizing procedures
  • More hand sanitizing stations
  • Capacity management

Guests can make their reservations through the Kings Island app, which features estimated ride times and routes throughout the park to quickly find your destinations, as well as FunPix photos and show and event schedules.

The park has not yet released an opening date for their waterpark Soak City.
