Great Parks is lighting up the night at its biggest park with some illuminated fun this summer. Miami Whitewater Forest in Crosby and Whitewater townships will transform into a dazzling showcase of glowing boats; campfires; nighttime nature adventures and more with the new Spark in the Dark event series.
At Spark in the Dark, the park’s popular peddle boats will be draped with lights, creating a colorful display on the water around the lake, and available to rent. There will also be family-friendly nighttime hikes, animal ambassadors and educational stations about life at night in the park, with moons and night creatures like moths and bats taking center stage.
Spark in the Dark will be held at Miami Whitewater Forest Harbor on the final Saturday of the month from May through September, from 8-11 p.m. May 25, June 29, July 27 and Aug. 31 and from 7-10 p.m. on Sept. 28. Admission is free, but there will be small fees for things like glowboat rentals, food, drinks and some activities.
