Wisconsin-based pizza chain Toppers Pizza is well-known around the college crowds for being an affordable and satisfying option for when that cheesy, carby, saucer-shaped hunger strikes. 

And among all the thrills of 2020 thus far, the pizza brand has also been experiencing some big changes — Toppers rolled out a new menu for vegan pizza lovers on Oct. 5, in order to maintain their core values of “(giving) the people what they want” — meaning sharing their pizza-flavored love with those who have dietary restrictions. 

“We’re excited to be able to offer these new items to our customers and are looking forward to continuing to innovate our menu in order to serve our loyal customers in the Cincinnati community,” said Toppers Pizza marketing manager Simona Ebner in a press release.

The new menu offers three different specialty pizzas; the Buffalo Chicken-less Topper, with Buffalo sauce, vegan chicken,  vegan mozzarella, green onions and vegan ranch; Korean BBQ Chicken-less Topper, with Korean barbecue sauce, vegan chicken, vegan mozzarella, onions and peppers; and Tuscano Topper, with tomato sauce, vegan cheese, spinach, tomatoes and green olives. 

Visitors can also build their own vegan pizza. 

Ebner says that the community has responded to the new menu items.

We’ve had an overwhelming response to the vegan menu items- we’ve gained many new customers in the last week and a half since we released them and we’re so pleased to be able to offer delicious options to them,” she said in an email.

So far, the crowd favorite has been the Buffalo Chicken-less topper, which Ebner says is also her favorite. 

The pizza chain is currently offering curbside pick-up and contact-less delivery options to keep customers safe during the pandemic. 

Cincinnati’s Topper’s Pizza location is located at 345 Calhoun St. in CUF.
