Champion competitive eater Joey Chestnut is returning to Oktoberfest Zinzinnati to defend his brat-eating world record.
Chestnut will be competing Sunday, Sept. 19 at one of the many Oktoberfest celebrations around the city this weekend.
The sausage-scarfing champ has won the Zinzinnati brat-eating contest nine times, according to a press release from Shea Communications. Chestnut hopes to break his record of eating 70 brats in 10 minutes at this year’s event.
Sam Barclay of Major League Eating will serve as master of ceremonies for the contest, Oktoberfest organizers say.
“Chestnut faces fierce competition for the Brat-Eating Champion title this year,” says Barclay in a release.
The free event begins at 4 p.m. at the Braxton Stage, located at the intersection of Third and Walnut streets.
After last year’s party was canceled due to the pandemic, organizers for Oktoberfest Zinzinnati are making up for it this year by adding an extra day and extra hours.
The festivities take place 5 p.m.-midnight on Sept. 16; 11 a.m.-midnight on Sept. 17 and 18; and 11 a.m.-9 p.m. on Sept. 19.
