A Northern Kentucky community is rallying around a business owner and baker who is recovering after being injured in a car crash.

Vic Riley, the owner of Square Peg Bakery in Erlanger, which just opened in May, suffered a traumatic brain injury and several other significant injuries in a crash on I-75 south on July 4, according to a post on the bakery’s Facebook page. The bakery team says Riley is stable and recovering, but the bakery is temporarily closed. With medical bills piling up and Riley unable to run her business, a GoFundMe has been launched to help cover the costs.

“If you’ve ever stepped into Square Peg Bakery, you know it’s more than just a bakery—it’s a place where magic is made daily. From melt-in-your-mouth cookies to spectacular custom cakes, and those legendary cinnamon rolls that could turn any day around, Vic has poured her heart into every single bite. But now, she needs our help,” writes Molly Stallmeyer, who organized the GoFundMe.

Stallmeyer says support for Riley during this time can make a life-changing difference. Every dollar will go toward her recovery, daily living costs and helping her reopen Square Peg Bakery following her recovery.

“If her cinnamon rolls ever made your morning, if her cookies ever brightened your day, or if her kindness ever touched your heart, please consider donating or sharing this campaign. Let’s rally around the woman who’s baked so much love into our lives. #SpreadLoveAndFrosting”

As of this writing, the GoFundMe has raised nearly $2,300 of its $4,500 goal. You can read more and donate to the fundraiser here.
