An upscale cocktail bar in Madisonville is closing permanently.

Placebo, located on the Medpace campus across from the Element Eatery food hall, announced on social media Tuesday that it would close for good next month.

“It is with heavy hearts that after 3 years with the community, Placebo will be shutting its doors after May 17th,” the bar shared. “It has been so fun serving you all and look forward to our final weeks together and seeing all of our favorite faces one last time.”

Placebo opened in May 2022 with an Art Deco and Roaring ’20s theme and offered a variety of artisanal cocktails crafted using traditions ranging back to Prohibition. The bar did not offer a reason for the closure.

On Saturday, May 17, Placebo will host a private event by Date Cincy until 6 p.m. You can buy tickets to the event here. After, the bar will be open to the public until 2 a.m.
