Like most other 2020 events, Newport’s annual Great Inland Seafood Festival will look a tad bit different this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. But don’t fret, my friends, you’ll still be able to get your hands on plenty of your favorite ocean-dwelling delight.
The fest returns Aug. 14-15 beginning at 4 p.m. both days, this year offering a drive-thru pop-up lobster shop.
The annual event, which has taken place for the past 35 years, typically offers seafood-related dishes, live music and drinks. This year, folks will be able to take home a whole Maine lobster — live or cooked — without even leaving the car.
Pre-orders must be placed by 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10, and your order must be picked up within a one-hour window your choosing.
Options include a live or cooked whole Maine lobster with drawn butter for $10.95 or a whole lobster meal with drawn butter, red potatoes, corn and a bottle of water for $14.95.
The drive-thru event will take place at Riverboat Row in Newport.
