Over-the-Rhine's Fillo Modern Greek to Launch Dinner Service

Greek bakery and cafe Fillo Modern Greek will be expanding to now include dinner service.

The family-owned bakery-cafe opened on Race Street in Over-the-Rhine in 2021 with lunch and brunch. Starting Thursday, Aug. 3, it’ll launch dine-in, reservation-only dinner service with a two-week-long soft opening.

Fillo’s dinner service will feature a prix-fixe menu focusing on mezedes — traditional Greek small plates meant for sharing and creating memorable dining experiences. The menu will offer traditional Greek hot and cold dishes. Customer favorites like the chicken souvlaki will remain on the menu, but new, exciting dishes will be offered as well. Expect to find classic favorites like moussaka, tzatziki and spicy feta dip, as well as beet salad, grilled octopus and calamari — all of which will be prepared with love and care and burst with the authentic flavors of Greece, the owners said in a press release.

“We have been eager for Fillo to become a place where people can come in the evenings for a traditional Greek dinner right here in OTR,” Evan Papanikolaou, chef and owner of Fillo, said in the release. “I’ve been asked numerous times if Fillo would ever be open for dinner, and the time has finally come.”

Fillo will also offer modern takes on classic Greek dishes like fried feta with hot honey syrup and grilled shrimp over pesto couscous. To drink, you’ll find a curated selection of Greek wines and a range of cocktails to accompany the dishes. For dessert, try the sampling of Fillo's baklava, featuring both saragli and nest styles, as well as ravani, a syrupy semolina cake.

Lunch service will not be offered during the soft opening, but Fillo says it plans to resume it later. Brunch service, however, will still be offered on Saturdays and Sundays starting at 11 a.m.
