Sitwell’s Coffee House, a Cincinnati institution that’s been a community staple for over two decades, was vandalized over the weekend.
On Saturday evening, the beloved Clifton coffee shop was broken into and their iconic window sign — one of the last works of art painted by local artist Justin Green before he passed away in 2022 — was smashed. Green was one of the city’s best-known artists, having designed the official Hamilton County flag. Sitwell’s was currently in the process of donating the historic sign before the burglary happened.
“We have pride in our community and we wish others felt the same,” the coffee shop said in a social media post. “We’ll carry on Sitwell Strong just as Sitwell’s has for the past 30 years. We appreciate your patronage as we have in the past, present and future.”
A follow-up social media post yesterday said the shop was “overwhelmed by and grateful for” the support they’ve received from Cincinnatians since the incident.
