The Cone 6855 Tylersville Road, West Chester West Chester’s The Cone is arguably the most recognizable creamy whip in all of Ohio — partially because of its large ice cream cone-shaped exterior. The Cone’s flavors and ingredients are all-natural, the majority of which are made in-house daily with fresh fruit, real chocolate and more. Even their famous bright orange zebra cone is made from real oranges. Plus all their ice creams, yogurts, Italian ices and sherbets are not only all-natural, but soy-free, gluten-free and egg-free, and their whipped cream is homemade from scratch on a daily basis. They also have peanut-allergy-friendly options, as well as dairy-free and sugar-free selections. Photo: facebook.com/TheConeWC

West Chester’s The Cone, one of Greater Cincinnati’s most iconic creamy whips, is looking for a new owner.

“After fifty years of operation by generations of the Wren family, it is time for us to retire,” owner Keith Wren shared on social media Saturday.

The Cone, most recognized by its large ice cream cone-shaped exterior, opened under Ken and Louella Wren in 1973 as K&W Creamy Whip in the Lockland-Reading area. Operations moved into the cone-shaped building in West Chester in 1995.

Wren wrote that the family is looking for a buyer who will continue The Cone’s legacy, saying their goal is for new ownership to continue their ice cream traditions and family recipes, including their secret-recipe orange and vanilla ice cream, and pursue future growth opportunities in Greater Cincinnati.

The Cone sits on multiple parcels of real estate and includes indoor and outdoor seating, walk-up windows, a drive-thru, kiddie rides, a retail sales area and plenty of parking, says Wren.

Operations at The Cone will continue as usual until a buyer is found. Its last day of the 2024 season will be Sunday, Sept. 29.

“We appreciate all of the support over the years and loved being able to serve such amazing customers! We also couldn’t have done any of this without our amazing Cone Family from the past 30 years. We appreciate you all!” Wren shared.
