Cincinnati-based online radio station illSONIC recently released an app for Android and iOS.
The R&B/Hip Hop outlet, which has been streaming online for the past year, features an array of local DJs, including PXVCE from Triiibe, and playlists put together by
locals like the folks behind the great local interview series Donuts N’ Akahol. The station regularly programs music from Cincinnati’s rich Hip Hop and R&B scenes.
IllSONIC was founded by Danielle Morris, who got the idea during her stint at the community-minded, local-music-friendly online radio outlet Inhailer (IllSONIC was created in partnership with Inhailer).
“We saw what Inhailer Radio was doing for the indie community and the platform it was providing for local artists and we wanted to give back to the R&B and Hip-Hop community in the same way.” Morris says in a press release. “Cincinnati has so much music talent right now, and it’s important they have a streaming outlet that recognizes that.”
Tonight (July 12) IllSONIC is celebrating its first anniversary — and the new app’s launch — with a party at 3 Points Urban Brewery in Pendleton. The free event begins at 9 p.m. and will feature live DJ sets by PXVCE Productions, Think Savy, Druskii, DJ Xanati and DJ Prymtime. DJ Wavy Moe and Triiibe’s Siri Imani host and Donuts N’ Akahol will be on site conducting interviews.
