Cincy AltPop trio PUBLIC made its first music video and this morning it was premiered in a pretty major way.
The clip for the band’s recent single, “One That I Want,” debuted this morning (Oct. 3) on MTV’s rebooted TRL program, then was aired at 9 a.m. on sister network MTV Live. According to posts on PUBLIC’s social media sites, the video will be airing frequently throughout the day on MTV Live and on another MTV property, CheddarU, the network’s college-oriented platform formerly known as MTV on Campus.
In the “One That I Want” video, singer/guitarist John Vaughn stars as an actor on a movie set, where his bandmates (drummer Ben Lapps and bassist/synth player Matthew Alvarado) are working as crew members. Early in the clip, Vaughn flirts with and falls for his acting/dancing co-star, Sally (played by fellow singer/musician Bobbi Kitten of Damn The Witch Siren), and she appears to reciprocate the vibe. By the end, it becomes clear that one of the actors was merely doing their job.
PUBLIC played a hometown show in August and has been spending a lot of time on the road as their career continues its upward trajectory.
