KNOTTS wants you to know that the Queen City’s local band culture is all about community.
Their new album “Together is a Feast,” out this Friday, aims to be about more than just soft, catchy indie tunes.
Like the joining of hands around a bouquet on the cover, the Woodward Theater is set to become a gathering place for community art and entertainment at the end of August — a litany of local bands, artists, nonprofits and more will be showing up to support the release of KNOTTS’ new project with a blowout party for the community.
So, who’s KNOTTS anyway?
Adalia Powell-Boehne is the vocals of the group — on tracks like “Blue Jean Ballad” or the very Mazzy Star “Green” off their upcoming album, her emotive croon is front-and-center. She sits at the delicate core of the project, but doesn’t smother it; she knows when to hang back and let her bandmates shine.
And the other two-thirds of KNOTTS, guitarist Jordan Wilson and drummer Isaiah Cook, both shine in their own ways. On “Bookmark,” the last single from their new record, the band maintain a balancing act to not overpower Powell-Boehne’s quieter, playful delivery, while on tracks like “Green,” the hazy instrumental fills the space around her powerful voice.
