One of Cincinnati’s finest Rock bands has been making noise again after a brief hiatus. This Saturday at Southgate House Revival, “Americana Punk Rock” group 500 Miles to Memphis continues its latest phase with a concert that will be recorded for a forthcoming live album. And the band wants fans to show up and help them with the recording process.
While you might make it onto the album by yelling “Judas!” or “Actually, it’s only 482 miles to Memphis from here!” during a quieter concert moment, 500MTM is looking for some slightly less disruptive contributions. According to a press release, the band “will be recording the audience to get foot stomps, hand claps, ‘hey’s,’ ‘ho’s’ and general gang vocals.”
Saturday’s show kicks off at 7:30 p.m. with The Exit Strategy. Eric Bolander and Yellow Paper Planes also perform. 500MTM hits the stage at 10:30 p.m. Tickets are $7 in advance, or $10 at the door.
The forthcoming live set — to be released for free later this summer — is the band’s second in-concert recording made at a Southgate House and officially released. In 2011, the group issued Live at the Historic Southgate House, which was recorded that May at the previous Southgate House site in Newport, Ky.
500 Miles to Memphis is also slated to begin work on a new studio album this summer, the band’s first since 2014’s Stand There and Bleed. Keep tabs on the group’s latest moves here and here.
