This weird year sounds like it’s off to a good start — if you’re listening to the music coming out of Greater Cincinnati, at least. Even if the Apocalypse is just on the horizon, we can go down with a great soundtrack in the background.
Our Cincinnati music playlist for February includes everything from Jazz and Soul to Pop Rock and Indie Country and beyond. Check out a pair of tracks from Jade, the latest album by (mostly) instrumental Progressive Rock crew Peridoni (which technically came out on the last day of last month), a couple of songs from rockers Injecting Strangers’ likely final EP, Dyin’ to Be Born, which citybeat.com premiered, and “Living On Top,” the title track from Brian Olive’s forthcoming full-length (due in late April) that CityBeat also premiered earlier in February. There are also tracks from singles by Wonky Tonk and The Tigerlilies, and the new one from sublime Soul artists JOSPH (more info here).
The playlist also includes other songs that caught our attention this month, including excellent tracks by Brandon Coleman Quartet, Softspoken, Break Up Lines, mr.phylzzz’s Clinton Jacob, Wolfcryer (whose “Facing Down the American Dream” is a benefit release for DCCH Center for Children and Families), Strange Creature and local Jazz duo Brad Myers & Michael Sharfe, whose new album, Sanguinaria (Hopefulsong), will be celebrated with release gigs in March.
