Using the overarching concept of “anomaly lessons” for the entire year of exhibition planning, Thunder-Sky, Inc. gallery organizers Bill Ross and Keith Banner hope to demonstrate to their audience “what it means to be gorgeously abnormal.”
With that aim in mind, their first exhibition of the year juxtaposes the bright, whimsical, “art brut” faces painted by Bob Hoke of Hannibal, Mo., with black-and-white, meticulously realistic graphite drawings by Cincinnati-based specialty painting contractor Stacey Vallerie. Seen side by side, according to Thunder-Sky’s curators, their works “seem to whisper sweet nothings to one another.”
