The world of investment banking and hostile takeovers provides the setting for writer-director Costa-Gavras’ examination of the dynamic between a newly appointed CEO (Gad Elmaleh) and the American rogue (Gabriel Byrne) in charge of a hedge fund intent on buying out the European bank. With international finance being the hot-button topic it is, Capital looks eager to feed the frenzy of concern and outrage about the astonishing degree of excess on display, all gained at the expense of the middle and working class. Opens Nov. 8 at Esquire Theatre. (R) Not screened in time for review
