For the second consecutive day in a row, the Cincinnati Open has been hit with a major weather delay.
Due to the heavy rain in the Cincinnati area, the gates opened an hour later than usual at 10 a.m., with play presumably set to resume sometime after 11 a.m.; judging by the area’s current forecast, however, that seems unlikely. Warren County, where the Lindner Family Tennis Center complex is based, is currently under a flood warning from the National Weather Service and will be on flood watch until 11 p.m.
Yesterday, the world-renowned tennis tournament also had to postpone play before it even started, with tournament officials telling attendees to seek shelter at 10 a.m. The rain briefly cleared and 12 matches were able to be played before the tournament was once again postponed due to weather. At least eight matches set to be played yesterday were moved to Wednesday’s lineup, and it seems like that will continue to be the case.
