The Boston comedy scene has given us the likes of Bill Burr, Steven Wright, Paula Poundstone and many more. But it wasn’t that rich comedy tradition that brought a young Jessimae Peluso to Beantown.
“I moved to Boston for a boy,” she says. Growing up in Syracuse, N.Y., Peluso was always funny and used humor as a way to fit in. Today her comedy can best be described as honest and sometimes a little raw. “And slightly aggressive,” she adds.
She’s also on the MTV show Girl Code, with Funny Bone co-headliner Carly Aquilino. And the boy she moved to Boston for? “He’s doing well. He’s in Blue Man Group. Take that, mom.”
Showtimes Thursday-Sunday. $15-$25. Funny Bone on the Levee, Newport, Ky., funnyboneonthelevee.com.
