There’s a reason he’s known as “TV’s Jon Dore.” It all began when the Canadian funnyman began studying television production in college. “TV broadcasting inspired me to do something creative, and that led to me trying stand-up, and it was terrible,” he says. He quickly improved, but comedy wasn’t very lucrative, so he gave acting a try. “I put together a demo reel and wound up being hired by a show called Canadian Idol. And for two years we got away with murder.” When the series wasn’t renewed, Dore headed for Los Angeles and started travelling the country with Tig Notaro doing stand-up at people’s houses for the Showtime special, Knock, Knock, It’s Tig Notaro.
