Fresh from a run on this past summer’s Last Comic Standing, Mike Vecchione is back on the road. Telling jokes on national TV for a few weeks allowed more people to become familiar with his comedy, which engages audiences with some self-deprecating humor. “Then I can get into what I want to talk about,” he says. But the first few minutes are key.
“I’m likable, but I’m stocky and I have a short haircut,” he says. “I kind of look like a paramilitary type, so that can be off-putting to some people. … I give that vibe a little bit so I have to be self-deprecating on stage.”
